pros/cons
pro: they can live in groupes of 3 or more fish and have a very mean/nice look to them cons: they are naturally skittish animals, but grow out of it as they get older. they also prefer very little light.

requirements
- atleast 3 fish per tank, one is very boring, 2 will eventually kill eachother but three works out just fine.
- atleast 20 gallons per fish except for piraya, piraya can get up to 18" and would need about 50g for a fish that size, but it will take a long time.
- a ph of 6.4-7.8, preferrabally 6.8
- a temperature of 75-84, preferrabley 82 degrees

foods
these piranha eat very well most of the time, but occasionally go on "hunger strikes" sometimes for no apparent reasons, or others for changes in water condition or enviorment or a new additon to the tank. foods include: - any white fish filet
- chicken
- shrimp
- smelt
- krill
- occasionally beef
- pork
- occasionally feeder goldfish, mice, and crayfish
- squid
baby piranhas(.5-2.5") should be fed the following:
- frozen brine shrimp
- frozen bloodworms
- frozen beefheart
- some flake and pellet foods

facts
- members of the pygocentrus family grow very fast. usually an inch a month untill they are about 7", then a couple inches a year after that.
- these are most feared because they travel in huge schools which are called shoals and can devour an entire animal in seconds
- these can live up to 35 years in the right conditions
- you will need to purchase a powerhead for your tank when your piranhas reach around 4". this will keep em active and lessens their skittishness. i recommend using one that overturns your tank 7-10 times an hour.
